Port Orford

Port Orford view from rest area and working port

This actual working port is surrounded by a little undiscovered town.  Most of the residents are fishermen and their families, with a good sprinkling of retirees of late.   A few small motels, a couple of campgrounds, a handful of restaurants, a gift shop or two, hardware stores, junk shops, and of course, antique stores.  Not a lot else.  Yet you may never forget the sight of rounding that corner and seeing the cove leading to the open ocean, at the south end of the village.  Certainly some of the most beautiful scenery  that you may ever see is in this little town.  It is here, that you will find a great place to pull over and enjoy the view.  Clean modern restrooms and a little park for the traveler, the perfect overlook for this  breathtaking cove is at the south end of Port Orford and this unlikely park is a great place to stop for a rest on your journey up the coast.

While you are here, sample the local fare, and stop in at the few shops that do make Port Orford their home, some of them are quite interesting and have lovely pieces to help you remember your trip.  Please tell them that Wild Coast Vacations sent you!
